- The state of the economy in the country is hitting hard on Nigerian politicians
- 'Free money' is no longer available to career politicians because of the economic recession
- A former minister is already in financial distress
A report by New Telegraph has revealed that a former minister is now financially broke and already considering selling some of his properties.
According to the report, the ex-minister who was one of the prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains during the party’s 16 years reign in power is presently broke.
The report was however silent on the identity of the minister.
As Nigeria continues to battle economic recession, even politicians out of power are feeling the heat.
The current administration of Muhammadu Buhari has resisted every attempt to allow free money flow for career politicians who throng to Abuja for freebies.
These are tough times for Nigerian politicians, especially PDP chieftains since the party is no longer in power.
The report stated that rich politicians are complaining about ‘blockage of resources’ from unusual quarters they have access to in the past.
The seizures were part of the on-going investigation into the land scam that occurred in Abuja during Mohammed’s tenure as minister.
